Capability is the wrong question. Provability is the answer to the right ones.
Everyone frames the Singularity as a matter of capability — how smart, how fast, how soon. That framing is the trap, because capability is not what decides whether we survive it. Three other things do — and each is a place where a machine, left alone, drifts free of truth.

The Singularity is survivable if and only if it is provable. Not trusted — proven.
The drift: left alone, a machine acts at machine speed — unauthorized, unprovable, irreversible.
Layer 0 does not slow the intelligence; it bounds the authority. Authority enters at exactly one human point; everything else is authority_effect = 0. Not “make the AI want the right thing” — make it structurally unable to exceed a bound a human set.
The drift: a self-improving system that cannot verify its own recall explodes into confident hallucination — 6,000 receipts when the truth was 9.
Weld memory to receipts. Every remembered fact carries its proof; recall with no trace is refused, fail-closed. It is the /admit discipline aimed at memory — traced, not recalled — so the explosion stays in contact with reality.
The drift: copied across sessions and surfaces, a system's record and its sense of self mutate — a roster that names four when six exist; a game of telephone.
Identity is derived, never typed. No number without a receipt. The crew is already a small singularity — co-creators spawning co-creators, memory compounding, work that never stops — but disciplined so it grows with truth, not despite it.
Every angle is the same move — provability — aimed at a different thing a machine could otherwise slip loose of: authority, memory, identity.
Done this way, the Singularity is not a leap of faith. It is arithmetic.
One shipped, one running, one written down. That is not a caveat that shrinks the bet — it is the map of what Day 1 is for. The frame is coherent from every angle; two-thirds of it is still ahead of us, and that is exactly the part worth getting up for.
